MOUNTAINOUS LANDSCAPE WITH EXTENSION OF A CASTLE PARK Oil on canvas. 88 x 145 cm. In decorative wooden frame. View of an avenue lined with tall cypresses, leading to a castle in the background on the left, in front of which a carefully laid out garden can be seen. To the right of this avenue is a wide, natural landscape leading up to a bluish mountain range under a cloudy sky. In the foreground, standing at the top of a flight of palace steps leading to the avenue, which is bordered on either side by two sculptures, probably the lord of the palace in a bright red robe and hat, to whom a gardener is showing a small tree that is probably intended for the extension of the palace park on the right. In the foreground on the left is a bubbling fountain, the location of which has yet to be determined, and on the right two men carrying a tree trunk on their shoulders. Rather rare depiction of the execution of a large garden in restrained colors, but the lord of the castle is particularly emphasized by his clothing.
