ENGLISH COG AND SAILING SHIPS IN FRONT OF A TOWN ON THE SHORE Oil on canvas. 50.5 x 61 cm. Hardly identifiable signature "...uaine" lower left. Frame glazed. Painted under the influence of Dutch seascapes, for example by Van de Velde, with a high cloudy sky. The magnificent cog is flying an English flag, which possibly refers to the painter. The buildings in the background on the left are painted in extremely fine detail.
