MUSICIANS RESTING IN FRONT OF A RUINED ARCHWAY Oil on canvas. Doubled. 54 x 34 cm. In decorative frame. Two musicians have settled below a tall tree, the seated woman of whom has just received a glass of wine from a farmer. In the background on the right an antique archway through which a couple is looking into a wide mountainous landscape. The painter initially worked in the workshop of the city painter Paolo Anesi (1697-1773) and collaborated with him on the decorative paintings of the Villa Chigi. His work as a whole can be attributed to the Bamboccianti, close to Andrea Locatelli (1695-1741). Works by his hand in the Palazzo Braschi and in the Galleria dell'Accademia di San Luca in Rome.
