THE VISION OF JOACHIM (THE WEAVERS) Oil on canvas. Doubled. 93 x 136 cm. In gilt profile frame. Accompanied by a copy of an expertise by Mauro U. Lucco, Bazzano, February 21, 2024. In the middle of a hilly landscape, a biblical scene with architectural motif and figural staffage, illuminated by two candles and a fireplace as well as by a divine light at the right edge of the picture. In the background, the old priest Joachim is promised a child by an angel (Pseudo-Gospel of Jacob 1-4). Annotation: A signed version measuring 94.2 x 131 cm (inv. no. B10) can be found in the Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen. Other versions were offered, for example, at Dorotheum in 2009 and were previously in the Giuseppe Veronese Collection in Milan; kept in the Santissima Annunziata Maggiore in Naples; in the collection of the Alba family in the Palacio de Liria in Madrid; offered in Genoa at Wannenes Art Auctions on December 21, 2020 under lot 1271 and another version is kept at Corsham Court in the Lord Methoen Collection. A workshop copy of Bassano is also kept in the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Kassel under inv. no. GK520. Literature: Cf.
