In the tradition of previous owners, this painting is attributed to Pieter Snayer, whose oeuvre is otherwise mainly characterized by battle and raid scenes, which are ubiquitously inspired by the Thirty Years' War. Here, however, a prosperous society with resting harvesters and an undamaged field to be harvested with a village center behind it, with a church and gently rolling landscape, without any semblance of aggression.
