Description
Gaspard de Crayer, 1584 Antwerpen – 1669 Gent, zugeschrieben SAINT HIERONYMUS Oil on canvas. Doubled. 108 x 91 cm. Unframed. As in the composition previously attributed to Gaspard de Crayer and recorded in the RKD in The Hague under no. 59273, here too - albeit in portrait format - Saint Jerome can be seen studying the Holy Scriptures with his gaze raised. As the transcription of the RKD is on shaky ground, there is also the possibility of an attribution to Matthias Stomer. (13908165) (13) Gaspard de Crayer, 1584 Antwerp - 1669 Ghent, attributed SAINT JEROME Oil on canvas. Relined. 108 x 91 cm.
