THE PERSONIFICATION OF HOPE Oil on wood. Parquetted. 70 x 59 cm. Against a dark background, a three-quarter portrait of a young woman with light, delicate flesh tones, slightly reddened cheeks, reddish hair and eyes of the same color, her gaze turned sideways upwards. She is wearing a green, pleated robe with a white-grey collar and sleeves of the undergarment, and holds a large, upward-pointing anchor in her strong left hand. She has placed her right hand gently on her chest. The personification of hope is depicted here in the form of a woman: the anchor and the color green are symbols of hope.
