RUIN CAPRICCIO Oil on canvas. Doubled. 91.5 x 126 cm. In gilded frame decorated with foliage. View of a row of ancient ruins leading into the field on the left. Salucci carefully studied the works of Viviano Codazzi, the leading figure in the genre of architectural capricci. His figures were mostly contributed by Jan Miel. Only later did he noticeably lighten his palette in the spirit of Claude Lorraine, thereby moving away from any dramatization; and even here a Sfummato mood is evident, especially in the background. (1401256) (13) Alessandro Salucci (1590 - 1655/60) and Jan Miel (1599 - 1663), attributed RUIN CAPRICCIO Oil on canvas. Relined. 91.5 x 126 cm. (†)
