The youthful female figures are of the highest sculptural quality, which corresponds to the works of the aforementioned sculptor. The contrast between the even, smooth surface of the body and the curly hair is typical of the sculptor's style. Ernest Carrier-Belleuse was probably the most important French sculptor of his time, also known as Rodin's teacher. From 1840, he studied under Pierre Jean David d'Angers (1788-1856) at the École des Beaux-Arts before turning to marble and bronze sculpture. His first success came in 1863 with a "Bachantine", which Emperor Napoleon III purchased for the Tuilleries. Honored with public commissions, he created the bronze figures for the Paris Opera, the Louvre, the "Théatre Français", but also for the "Banque de Paris". His style corresponds to the continuation of the 18th century concept. The grace and postures of his female figures can be described as perfect. The sculptor worked as a director of the Sèvres manufactory until the end of his life. His pupil Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) created his portrait bust in 1882. Execution by the Cristofle company, silver plated.
