Venus mit einem Taubenpaar
Height: 48.5 cm. Total height with marble base: 62 cm. Probably France or Germany, 17th/18th century. Standing figure in finely cast bronze with beautiful brown patina. Venus depicted as a nude with a scarf wrapped around her waist, the ends of which she holds in her right hand; her left arm held up, two turtledoves in her outstretched hand. The style shows the design elements of French Mannerism; cast possibly after a 17th century model, the treatment with the separately cast, finely applied arm indicates a later cast - probably from the 18th century. Mounted on a fluted marble column stump. (1402285) (11)
