Schnitzfigur des Heiligen Rochus
Height: 78 cm. Southern Italy/Calabria, early 17th century. Standing figure of the saint of the plague sufferers, with the attributive, accompanying angelic child, who examines and heals the wound on the leg, and with the dog, who, according to the legend, fed the plague sufferer. The clothing shows a cloak laid over the folded dress, which stylistically corresponds to the fashion of the early 17th century. The papal keys are in the brim of the hat.
