Spätgotische Schnitzfigur des Heiligen Johannes Baptist
Height: 88 cm. Tyrol, around 1480/90. Standing figure, barefoot on a carved plinth, holding a book in the crook of his left arm, with the lamb, attribute of the saint, on which the right hand points. The face, beard and locks of hair are distinctively carved; the head is slightly enlarged due to the intended higher positioning in the room. The cloak forms jagged folds, indicating that it was made shortly before 1500. Oak wood, not hollowed out, some of the molding has worn away due to age. (14008939) (11)
