Großes Holzrelief mit Märtyrerszene Height: 106 cm. Width: 58 cm. Depth: 31 cm. Spain, 16th century. Carved, painted and partially gilded. The figures in high relief, almost fully sculpted. The multi-figure depiction cannot be determined due to the lack of further attributes. The lower section depicts a saint arrested by soldiers, who is probably being led to court by a column architecture. In the upper section on the left, his arrest is depicted while he prays at an altar with a cross and book. The relief is probably the most important part of an overall depiction, the side continuation of which is missing. The carving is of high quality, and the architectural depiction of the palace with Corinthian column, balustrade and door with segmental arch is probably stylistically consistent with the creation of the sculpture.
