Dolch des 17. Jahrhunderts

Length: 40.5 cm. Germany, 17th century. Enclosed CITES document, valid for commercial purposes in the EU. Very rare in this version. Steel blade curved towards the point, with double blood grooves on both sides as well as etched and cold-chiselled, recessed decoration: winged griffin, on the opposite side a heron, the decoration continued in a floral pattern. Ivory handle over a silver cuff, with a carved depiction of interwoven figures, interspersed with war trophies such as helmets, cannons etc. The front with a putto beneath a mascaron, the reverse with an oval-framed bust of a ruler in an allonge wig, above and below Mannerist mascarons. A rare example of Mannerism in this execution. (1402317) (11)
