XIXth CENTURY BROACH holding three probably fine gray pearls (untested) in a plant design. Set in 18K yellow gold. In a case signed Fannière Frères. French work. Dimensions : 4.80 x 2.20 cm. Gross weight : 11.74 gr. A pearl and yellow gold brooch. Fannière Frères was founded in 1839 by François-Auguste and his brother François-Joseph-Louis Fannière, nephews and students of the silversmith Fauconnier. Their first steps as sculptors and designers were in collaboration with the leading Paris silversmiths of the time, such as Wiese, Froment-Meurice and Christofle, before making a name for themselves in 1862. In 1900, the company was taken over by François-Joseph-Louis Fannière's son, then by Fernand Poisson. Only a small part of their work remains.
