Four medallions in openwork gold and enamel. Possibly Byzantium. 10th - 15th centuries. Four medallions in openwork gold and enamel. Possibly Byzantium. 10th-15th centuries. A marvellous piece of goldsmith's work depicting four different birds amidst branches of flowers. The four birds are surrounded by the same border of repeated vegetation motifs, in which the remains of blue enamel can be seen. Diameter: 6.2 cm each. Total weight: 109 g.
