LESSON (René-Primevère). Voyage autour du Monde, undertaken by order of the government on the Corvette La Coquille. Paris, Pourrat frères, 1838-1839. 2 vol. in-8, black half calf, smooth spine decorated with romantic arabesques, gilt title and tomaison (period binding). Original edition with frontispiece portrait and 41 figures, 19 of which are natural science figures, colored and gummed, and 22 in black (views, types, instruments). Lesson sailed with Duperrey as naturalist on the ship "La Coquille" during the 1822-1825 round-the-world campaign. They anchored in Tahiti, Bora-Bora, the Falklands, New Zealand, New Guinea, Java, Mauritius, Bourbon... Lesson wrote a diary that was published separately from the Relation officielle, which at the time was exorbitantly expensive. La Coquille was later renamed l'Astrolabe and was used in Dumont d'Urville's campaigns (Sabin 40214). Some foxing, but a fine, complete copy.

Paris, Tenré, 1834-1835. 2 vols. in-4, red half calf, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets and friezes (period binding). Joints partly split, tears and dark stain on spine of volume 2, restorations. 6 folding maps (general map detached and torn but not missing) and numerous hors-texte plates (views, types, scenes, etc.). Scattered foxing, brown spots on pp. 198 and 199 of volume 2.
