A Russian photo album of the imperial yacht "Almaz", dated 1914 Approx. 28 photographs (format mostly approx. 12 x 17 cm and approx. 8 x 11 cm). Mainly views of the cruiser, shots of the upper deck and catapult with airplane. The photos partly cropped, partly labeled and dated on the reverse. Dimensions of the album 20 x 29 x 17 cm. Very rare. The "Almaz" was a cruiser of the Imperial Russian Navy and was converted into an aircraft mother ship in 1914/15. During the Russo-Japanese War, the cruiser took part in the naval battle at Tsushima in May 1905, which was disastrous for Russia, and was the only cruiser to escape from the battle to Vladivostok with only six dead and 13 wounded. Imperial yacht from 1908. After 1917 the ship had a turbulent fate and sailed under six different flags. Condition: II - III
