Paul Marie ROUSSEL (1804-1876). "Watercolor and pencil sketch used to decorate vases at the Manufacture de Sèvres, monogrammed lower right, cut out and mounted on paper, framed. Annotated on reverse. Annotated on reverse (Size: 19.5 x 9 cm). Paul Marie Roussel was a glass and porcelain painter at the Manufacture de Sèvres between 1850 and 1871. A pupil of Chenavard, he exhibited at the Salon from 1847 to 1876. His work included the stained-glass windows in the Louvre after Chenavard, as well as those in the chapel at Dreux and the church of Saint Louis in Versailles. In 1858, he also painted the Etruscan vase from Naples in Sèvres porcelain, now in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
