HAYTER (Stanley William) - COFFEY (Brian). Death of Hektor. [Guildford]: Circle Press, 1979. - In-folio, 397 x 292: frontispiece, 23 pp. 8 plates. Leaves, in publisher's slipcase. First edition of this epic poem by Irish poet-artist Brian Coffey (1905-1995), inspired by Homer's account of The Iliad. It is illustrated with 9 superb original out-of-text etchings, including 3 in color, by British artist Stanley William HAYTER (1901-1988). Limited edition of 350 numbered copies on wove paper. This is one of 35 artist's proofs, signed by Coffey and Hayter at the justification, and including all engravings signed and numbered by the artist. It is enriched by this autograph dispatch signed by Hayter on the justification leaf: for my old friend Luigi // with affection // Will Hayter. 3.4.82 A very well preserved copy.

D'origine hongroise, Anna Prinner commence sa formation artistique à l'école des beaux-arts de Budapest avant de s'installer à Paris en 1927 où elle adopte le prénom d'Anton. C'est dans l'atelier de Stanley William Hayter, qu'elle se forme à la sculpture et y réalise ses premiers reliefs. Proche des artistes contemporains tels que Picasso ou Csaky, elle expose dans les galeries parisiennes de Jeanne Bucher et de Pierre Loeb. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Anton Prinner abandonne la sculpture pour la céramique et la peinture.
