Bordeaux box, first cover decorated with an abstract figure in gilt and palladium fillets, small pastilles in the same colors, as well as mosaic pieces in red, green, yellow, orange, ochre, white, gray and black box, and glossy and holographic papers, second plate decorated with horizontal gilded fillets representing the shape of the character on the first plate, smooth spine, grey suede lining and endpapers, gilded head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, burgundy box spine and cover bands folder, lined case (M. Richard, 1991). First edition of this text composed by Benjamin Péret in 1924, constituting the first work in the GBMZ collection. It is illustrated with 37 compositions by Max ERNST (1891-1976), including 3 original etchings (title and two out-of-text figures), 21 full-page compositions, most colored with stencils, 13 bistre lettering and one vignette in black. Edition of 321 copies; this is one of 300 on Grand Vélin d'Arches, not numbered. A superb copy in Michel Richard's original mosaic binding made in 1991, remarkably executed. A perfectly preserved copy.
