Paris: Société des Amis du Livre Moderne, 1914. - In-8, 251 x 185: frontispiece, (4 ff.), 215 pp. (6 ff. last blank), 9 plates, illustrated cover. Blue morocco, two sets of five gilt fillets framing the boards, intersecting at the corners, spine ribbed with gilt fillets, ten gilt fillets framing the inside, brocaded silk lining and endpapers, double endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, bordered slipcase (H. Blanchetière). Edition of 150 copies on wove paper, published under the artistic direction of Charles Meunier, illustrated with 19 color compositions by Antoine CALBET (1860-1944), including 10 hors-texts under captioned serpents and 9 chapter headings, as well as numerous ornaments (headings and culs-de-lampe) in monochrome. One of 125 copies reserved for members of the society, containing two states of the color illustrations, this one specially printed for the painter and draftsman Paul Goute (1860-1943). A very fine copy bound by Henri Blanchetière, ENRICHED WITH 4 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS IN CHINESE INK, used for the headpieces on pages 43 and 89, and for the culs-de-lampe on pages 44 and 93.
