Havana morocco, boards decorated with a rich oriental decoration in blue, red, green and ochre morocco, ribbed spine decorated in the same spirit, interior gilt filleting, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, bordered slipcase (Blanchetière-Bretault). First edition of this superb work illustrated with 54 paintings by the famous Orientalist painter Étienne DINET (1861-1929), reproduced in color in the text or full-page, and accompanied by a text by his Algerian friend Slimane Ben Brahim Bamer (1871-1953), with whom he forged a strong bond of friendship and traveled the desert as well as the Algerian, Oranese, Tunisian and Egyptian regions. Edition of 400 numbered copies, this being one of 348 on vellum, manufactured by Blanchet et Kléber. SUPERB MOSAIC COVERING OF THE EPOC, MADE BY HENRI BLANCHETIÈRE, son-in-law and successor of J. Bretault. Spine slightly faded.
