New and rare Latin edition of Salluste's works, printed in italics by Sébastien Gryphe. A splendid and precious copy, fully ruled, in a period binding with richly decorated wax-painted tracery. In all likelihood, this is a Parisian binding. A few old annotations in the margins. Missing cloth ties, some light repainting, small cracks at first board hinge. Wormhole in the gutter margin, not serious, but not affecting the text. Provenance: Truchet, with signature accompanied by the date 1554 on the bottom of the title. - Jacobo Sarraceno for Joan Sarraceno, with handwritten ex-dono on verso of first endpaper. - Mr. Mainville, with signature on front flyleaf, dated 1706.
