Jacques LE ROY. Le Grand théâtre profane du duché de Brabant... La Haye, Van Lom, 1730. 2 volumes in one folio, fawn calf, gilded fillets, spine with 7 ornate nerves (period binding). Brunet, III-1002 / Graesse, IV-172 /// I. (2f.)-64 / II. (2f.)-151-(6f.). Superb work divided into 2 parts, the first being a general description of the Duchy of Brabant with events, city governments and depictions of castles, houses... The second is a topographical and historical description of Brabant-Wallon. The work contains a title vignette, 3 plates of coats of arms, one of enamels, one of seals, 67 plates containing 188 views of buildings and 4 coats of arms in the text. It should also contain a map, which is missing here. A 19th-century manuscript leaf has been inserted in this copy. Binding rubbed with various stains and one hinge split.
