Born in 1925, André Hogommat entered the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1948, where he met Germaine Richier, César Baldaccini and Jean Muhlethaler. His work, now widely recognized, is marked by freedom and optimism. In the 1970s, the sculptor teamed up with Paul-Louis Gastaud, a designer of high-fidelity (Hi-Fi) furniture, in response to a request from the King of Morocco. The commission, which was unfortunately never delivered, led to the creation of several models, including the piece presented here. It displays all the artist's sensibility, the furniture designer's technique and the rich yet airy aesthetic of a royal commission.
