Rare and important decree of the National Convention. A fundamental document in Franco-American relations. Here the French Republic extends a friendly hand to all democracies, but especially to the United States and the Swiss cantons, and announces its policy of friendship and alliance with these two republics. The initial friendship of the Republic and the United States was not to last. Within a few years the issue of American neutrality in the conflict between France and England divided the two republics. Small 4to. 224x190. 4pp. Printed on light blue paper. At the end the signatures of Moreau and Borel. Good conditions. Rare and important decree of the National Convention. A landmark document in Franco-American relations.
