VAR (83) VILLE D'AUPS - rare souvenir medal of July 31, 1881, inauguration of the monument in honor of the victims of December 10, 1851 (*) - round brass 31.5 mm with suspension ring - monument resting on 2 palms R and F surrounding it, GLORIA VICTIS on the knot - text on back. (*) 1st monument erected in France to the victims of the coup d'état of December 2, 1851 - the inauguration took place on the same day as the promulgation of the law of July 30, 1881, a reparation law which compensated the victims - 100 to 150 dead to defend the constitution and prevent Louis Napoleon Bonaparte from remaining in power in violation of the texts forbidding him to stand again after 3 years as President of the Republic.
