Precious account addressed to the King by Baron Hyde de Neuville, then Minister of the Navy, on the economic activity of the French colonies during 1826. Income and expenditure are calculated for Martinique, Guadeloupe, Guyana and Mana, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Senegal and its dependencies, Bourbon (Reunion Island), Sainte-Marie-de-Madagascar, French settlements in India and Indian rent. Full shagreened basane, gilt roulette on the edges, gilt faux-nerve spine, gilt fleurons, red morocco title page, roulette on the edges. Corners dulled, beginning of split at bottom of upper spine, small black spot at top of upper spine.

French text on two pages, address and stamp "COLONIES PAR BORDEAUX," on fourth page. Handwriting in crisp cursive, brown ink. Slight traces of use. Letter from Guadeloupe. Discusses the sugar trade, with references to the price of 10 barrels sold in 1821. Letter brought to France by the ship "J. Jacques." Joined with: EE. LAHENS et COTTIN & Cie. Autograph letter signed, addressed to "A. Viot, Négociant à Nantes." Prephilatelic, Pointe a Pitre, January 26 and February 8, 1849 Bifolio in 4to on blue paper. 275x214 mm. French text on three pages, address and stamps "Guadeloupe" and "Nantes," on fourth page. Handwriting in crisp cursive, brown ink. Slight traces of use. Two letters joined in the same bifolium concerning trade and politics. There is mention of the price of sugar, varying according to quality; there is also mention of sending forty thousand barrels and problems of the ocean crossing. Important is the reference to Colonel Fieron, who arrived as governor of the island to end the unrest that followed the abolition of slavery in 1848. This decree extends to Senegal the same legislation applied in the colonies of Martinique, Guadeloupe and La Reunion. The bill is presented by A. Rousseau, Undersecretary of State for the Navy and Colonies: the names of the rapporteur, Marius Hurard, Secretary Jacques Haussman, and President V. also appear. Schoelcher. Folio, 320x208 mm. 8 pp. Good condition. Political organization of Senegal. With this decree the same legislation applied in the colonies of Martinique, Guadeloupe and La Reunion extends to Senegal. The law is presented by A. Rousseau, Under-Secretary of State for the Navy and the Colonies: the names of the lecturer, Marius Hurard, of the Secretary Jacques Haussman and of the President V. Schoelcher also appear.
