The railroad connecting Dakar to Saint-Louis was the first railway line in French West Africa, opened in 1885. The line was called the "peanut railway" because of the peanut export industry and its growth around the route. The main route was completed around 1915. Presented to the Senate by President of the Republic J. Grevy and Minister of Finance S. Carnot. Sadi Marie François Carnot, 1837 - 1894, was a deputy from February 1871 to December 1887, then President of the Republic from December 3, 1887 to June 25, 1894. Folio; 275x228 mm. Pp. 3, 1 blank.
