CHINA - 19th century Set of five pairs of beige silk sleeve bands embroidered with polychrome threads of women and dignitaries in gardens, playing pipa, flute, reading, fanning themselves. Sight size 52.3 x 18.4 cm Framed under glass Three beige silk sleeve bands embroidered with blue sanlan threads of butterflies in peonies. Sight size 45X18.5 cm Tray-mounted (one foot broken). Provenance: Collection of Doctor Maurice Fournials. Appointed in 1923 to the French Occupation Corps in China, he later became the guard physician at the French Legation in Peking, then assistant physician to the President of the Chinese Republic.
