Vase with lid. China, Qing dynasty, late nineteenth century. Hand-painted white porcelain. Sealing wax seal on the base. Measurements: 20 x 20 x 20 cm. This lidded vessel has been hand-embellished with scenes of dignitaries and vegetal ornaments. The delicacy of the line and the rigor of the drawing show the craftsman's skill. In a certain way the ornamentation is reminiscent of the pieces corresponding to the Green Family, a western name for a style of Chinese polychrome porcelain derived from wucai (literally, "five colors").
