Édouard CHIMOT (1880 - 1959) Prostitutes and night beauties Binder of 37 prints (etchings, lithographs, heliogravures and photomechanical prints) and two drawings A few trial proofs with handwritten notes by the artist giving technical indications for the print run. Some proofs are countersigned in pencil by the artist. Preservation: extensive dampening and foxing on most proofs. Some soiling here and there. Sheet dimensions: approx. 22 x 16 cm for the smallest to 33 x 24 cm for the largest. Édouard Chimot was a French painter, illustrator and engraver. He is best known for his work as an illustrator and for directing the publication of some thirty works by Éditions d'Art Devambez in Paris in the 1920s. Throughout his work, he exalted feminine seduction in all its forms. He illustrated some sixty limited-edition works between 1919 and 1958, one of the most famous being "Les Belles de Nuit" in collaboration with writer Maurice Magre.
