FIRST HALF OF THE 19th CENTURY - NORMAND WORK Yvetot necklace in 800/1000th silver, partially vermeiled, composed of articulated elements with foliate decoration and rhinestones. In the center, a larger element holds a pendant cross. It is adorned with a hook clasp. Boar hallmarks Gross weight: 75.30 g. L.: 39.5 cm. One stone missing, used condition Expert : Xavier LAFOSSE Rhinestone necklaces were very fashionable in Normandy in the early 19th century. They were known as "Yvetot necklaces". Rhinestones, also known as cailloux du Rhin, were as beautiful as diamonds, worked like the finest gemstones by lapidaries.
