Size: 34 to 6 cm In 1898, Joseph-Ferdinand Tissier moved to Nabeul and founded a factory that quickly attracted the attention of the Bey of Tunis, who granted him the title of "master potter of the Beylic faience factory". The factory turned a corner with the launch of "artistic pottery", which innovated by using a variety of motifs, thus revitalizing the sector. Around 1920, Louis Tissier took over the family business. The golden age of artistic pottery in Nabeul then began, between 1925 and 1935. The Tissier, Chemla and Verclos factories took part in the Colonial Exhibitions of 1922 in Marseille and 1931 in Paris, winning awards and seeing their ceramics included in the collection of the Musée Permanent des Colonies in Paris.
