Professor at the Zitouna, collector of Muslim girls and Tunisian historian. An avid traveler, he published numerous accounts of his travels in Europe, North Africa and the Orient in a series entitled "Pérégrinations estivales" ("Summer Peregrinations"). The sixth fascicule is devoted to his rihla to the hijaz in 1947 to perform the Pilgrimage.
