LOUIS XVI-STYLE DESK By Sormani In mahogany and mahogany veneer, decorated with chased and gilded bronze, the waist opening by a drawer bearing a plaque engraved Vve P. SORMANI & FILS/ 10 rue Charlot/PARIS, the waist with scrolls on either side of a reserve decorated with a foliage cartouche, the sheathed legs joined by a spacer with interlacing and ending in spinning tops;fitted with a removable glass top (not illustrated). A Louis XVI style gilt-bronze and mahogany bureau plat, by Sormani 3 000 - 5 000 € The business of Paul Sormani (1817-1877) was taken over after his death by his son and widow under the name Sormani veuve, Paul et fils, at 10 rue Charlot in Paris, until 1886, when Madame Sormani died. The company moved to 134, boulevard Haussmann, in 1912, when they joined forces with Thiébaux.
