A pair of Louis XVI style gilt-bronze three-light candelabra, after Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734-1789) The design of these candelabras evokes the work of Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734-1791). Delafosse played a major role in defining the Louis XVI style, notably through the distribution of his engraved collections. A pair of candelabra of the same model, although period, was bequeathed by John Jones to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London in 1882 (INV. 985-1982), where it remains to this day (cfr. H. Ottomeyer, P. Pröschel et al, "Vergoldete Bronzen", Munich, 1986, Vol. I, p. 186, fig. 3.9.4.). A pair of candelabras in this style sold at Christie's Paris, April 14, 2015, lot 242.
