ROUND CASE IN 18K (750) GOLD Master goldsmith Nicolas Marguerite, received in 1763 Paris, 1783-1784 With guilloché decoration of concentric fillets and dots, the frames chased with twisted rushes, the lid with circular medallion decorated with flowering basket, foliage and birds on an amati background. Marks:inside, on the bottom and side, hallmark of charge, of maître-orfèvre and letter-date;in the lid, hallmark of charge, of maître-orfèvre and traces of the letter-date;on the inner rim, hallmark of discharge, and later hallmark of title, eagle's head (twice);accidents H.:2 cm (¾ in.)
