CONSULATE PERIOD CHEST OF DRAWERS WITH LEAVES Stamped by Jacob Frères Rue Meslée In mahogany and speckled mahogany veneer, top in black Belgian marble, the front opening with two leaves revealing an interior fitted with four sliding shelves, the pilaster-shaped uprights surmounted by busts of turbaned females and a crescent moon, the escutcheons with Zephyr heads, resting on a plinth terminating in claw feet at the front and straight feet at the back, stamped JACOB FRÈRES / RUE MESLÉE on the left rear jamb, bearing an apocryphal stamp on the right rear jamb, a printed label on the back inscribed "LE GARDE MEUBLE PUBLIC / BEDEL & Cie / 18 Rue St. Augustin / 9982 / Avenue St. Augustin".
