PAIR OF LOUIS XVI STYLE LAMPS Attributed to Louis-Auguste Beurdeley In chased, gilded bronze and white marble, the shaft depicting a putto among clouds, resting on a white marble base encircled by a frieze of fruit and flowers held in place by ribbon bows, finished with a counter-base adorned with a laurel torus. A pair of groups virtually identical to ours, although mounted as candelabras, was delivered by Louis Auguste Beurdeley for Emperor Napoleon III at the Palais de Compiègne; one of the two candelabras is illustrated in H. Ottomeyer, P. Pröschel et al, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, Vol. I, p.423, fig. 6.3.5 (cfr. Fig. 1).
