Circular portico clock in the form of an antique temple in gilt bronze and molded white marble with four laurel columns supporting the movement, framed by two laurel branches and topped by a flowering urn. Teeth and pearl friezes, garlanded chains and tassels. Quadripod base. White enamel dial, signed BRUEL in Paris, Arabic hour and minute markers with dots. Mechanical movement with key winding, wire suspension. Louis XVI period. H. 44.5 cm Wear, stains, a few chips at the keyways, one of which has been filled with putty; stained marble, chips and a few splinters; one pompom missing from the urn. Bibliography: P. Kjellberg, Encyclopédie de la pendule française du Moyen-Âge au XXe siècle, ed. l'Amateur, 1997, a similar clock, with a few variations, is reproduced on p. 293.
