ANGELA CONNER (BRITISH B. 1935), CORIOLANUS

ANGELA CONNER (BRITISH B. 1935)CORIOLANUS Metal45cm (17½in.) High exc. baseThe present lot was produced as part of a series based on Shakespearean literature for an exhibition presented by The Library & Museum of the Performing Arts at The New York Library at the Lincoln Center. The series was conducted to produce emotional responses to Shakespeare's characters creating forms not figures. Coriolanus represents two cages of steel rods, one encased with the other. The single rod running through the centre signifies the melancholy of Hamlet and the outburst of entrapment and reflective introspection radiates from this central focus. Provenance: Direct from the artist's studio collection
