ORLEANS - Guillaume LEVÉ Pair of silver flat-bottomed circular jars or compotiers with radiating ribs and a small molded rim. Bearing the master mark G.L for Guillaume Levé on a heart of lilies and under a crowned sun, 18th century. Total weight : 784 gr Diameter: 23.5 cm Minor dents or scratches Notes: designed for serving stewed fruit. These objects, characteristic of the period, correspond to a model created by Pierre Desmazures produced in 1707 or 1708 and preserved in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Guillaume Levé was received as Master in 1717, the discharge for the city of Orléans is a cornucopia for the years 1729 to 1731, and the hallmark of the Jurande d'Orléans is a crowned K for the years 1728 to 1730. It is interesting to note that the Musée d'Orléans book entitled "Les Orfèvres d'Orléans" (Orleans Goldsmiths) on page 195 shows a pair of identical bowls by Master Guillaume Levé from 1726-1728.
