ATELIERS d'AUTEUIL (1876-1881) for HAVILAND - Edouard GIRARD (?-1893) Pair of lamps with floral decoration in barbotine on a shaded green background, bronze mounts. Signed in the decoration E.G. for Édouard Girard. Total height: 48.5 cm. Electrified Small enamel chip on a protruding part of the lamp. Note: These Impressionist ceramics were produced in the last quarter of the 19th century. The bronze mounts illustrate the taste for Japonism in the second half of the 19th century, and the decoration already heralds Art Nouveau. Édouard Girard was a flower painter at the Ateliers d' Auteuil from 1876 to 1881. The Ateliers d' Auteuil closed in 1883.
