Louis MORIN (1855-1938) Reverie in Venice, two lovers on a gondola Pastel Signed lower left louis morin 92 x 60 cm. Louis Morin, a versatile artist, is best known for his illustrations and caricatures in publications such as "Le Chat Noir". An Art Nouveau painter and decorator, he also contributed to the shadow theater of the famous Parisian cabaret. He founded the Société des dessinateurs humoristes in 1904 and, in addition to his work as an illustrator, painted the mural for the Printemps store's cupola (destroyed in a fire). A writer and art historian, Morin also published books and articles offering valuable insights into his era. Louis Morin always had a special connection with Venice, both as an author, in his 1897 book "Venise", in which he expressed his admiration for the city, and as an illustrator for the Goncourt brothers' 1913 book "A venise, rêve ...".
