The model of this small marble bather, executed in the influential and highly reputed Roman workshop of the Tadolini family, is by James Pradier.the influence of this Genevan artist, considered one of the most famous sculptors under the July Monarchy and until the fall of the Second Empire, was considerable. His work was widely disseminated through the publication of his models in bronze and plaster, with or without his consent, and even outside France.
