A QAJAR INCISED BRASS SAUCER WITH ACHAEMENID-REVIVAL ZOROASTRIAN SCENES Possibly Isfahan or Fars, Iran, 19th century Of hemispherical shape, the interior of the small saucer incised with several concentric decorative bands imitating motifs regularly encountered in the productions of Isfahan and Fars silversmithing centres, featuring a large floral medallion surrounded by rosette sprays and Achaemenid-revival scenes of rulers proving their divine right to rule, holding the Zoroastrian khvarenah (the splendent royal ring of glory), amidst them the renowned symbol of the farvahar (crowned, winged creature holding the khvarenah), the lathe-turned exterior plain, 9.8cm diam.
