A QAJAR ENGRAVED BRASS SMOKING SET WITH MATCH HOLDER AND CIGARETTE BOX, AND A MUNTZ METAL CO. PERSIAN-STYLE TRAY Qajar Iran, late 19th - early 20th century, and Staffordshire, England, dated 1872 Comprising a Qajar bulbous brass match holder, engraved with figural banqueting scenes in a natural setting around the waist and lush vegetal scrolls on the top and bottom, 7.4cm high; a rectangular cigarette box, decorated with birds set against dense foliage and floral sprays, with arabesque cartouches on the sides, the decorative repertoire in line with Qajar silver creations of the late 19th and 20th centuries, 4.5cm x 15.5cm x 7.5cm; and a rectangular tray with a raised, rounded, and everted rim, the interior decorated with a large Persian-style arabesque cartouche in the shape of a plum vase, set against a lively natural background with tall trees with birds in the background and stylised hares amidst bushes and shrubs in the foreground, attempting to replicate Qajar models, stamped at the back with the British Muntz Metal Co.
