AN ARCHITECTURAL PIETRA DURA HARDSTONE PANEL WITH ROSETTE GRIDWORK Possibly Agra, Mughal North India, 17th - 18th century Of narrow rectangular shape, the grey hardstone panel showing ochre yellow, sandstone-like inclusions, creating a charming 'rocks and waves' pattern on the surface, the front carved and inlaid in typical pietra dura technique with a white marble interlocking grid in-filled with four-lobed rosettes with black centres, mounted on a black stand, the panel 43cm x 21cm, 48cm x 23cm including the stand. Provenance: London Private Collection since the 1980s.
